Frances Schlosstein, TBLS President and Chief Executive Officer – Frances Schlosstein is President and CEO of The TBLS Group, a transaction-focused environmental advisory and sustainability consulting practice. Her environmental due diligence team, all senior executives from the environmental consulting, industry and environmental insurance disciplines have valued over $50 billion of liability for thousands of sites in the United States and cross-border. TBLS is known for the use of environmental/financial modeling and risk mitigation strategies that enhance negotiations and accelerate deal closings.
The TBLS Group also affiliates with a global investor who invests in environmentally distressed operating companies and properties. This affiliation enables TBLS to bring liability buyouts and transfer options as well as a tools that mitigate risks and protect buyers and sellers from environmental “bounce-backs” related to Ms. Schlosstein created The TBLS Group in 2008, as a cohort of environmental and sustainability experts. TBLS today includes three groups: Environmental risk management solutions to include liability buyouts; Transaction-focused environmental audit & valuation services; and sustainability services, including reputational risk assessments.
Between 2008 and 2011 TBLS served as a primary consultant to Bluefield Holdings, an environmental credit bank, funded by a six billion dollar pension fund. In partnership with the Chemistry Council of NJ, Schlosstein and her team worked with Hoffman La Roche, Dow Chemical, Shell Oil and numerous pharmaceutical, petroleum and manufacturing companies in addressing solutions for settling existing Natural Resource Damage claims with New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
Prior to TBLS, Ms. Schlosstein headed the U.S. operations of a Siemens high-tech spinoff. In this capacity she built a national sales team, established channel partners including Network Appliance and IBM and generated the first $10 million in revenues and reference customers. These included State Farm Insurance, The State of Kentucky and Glaxo-Smith Kline and Ford Motor Company. Schlosstein did this while taking the company through its first Her banking experience includes Vice President roles at Citibank and PNC-BlackRock. She oversaw Citibank’s electronic new-product development for the AAdvantage credit card. At BlackRock, Ms. Schlosstein was responsible for creation and implementation of a post-acquisition multichannel marketing strategy. This involved consolidating 3 mutual fund companies and 31 funds into a new fund family, now known as the BlackRock Funds.
Schlosstein holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies and a Master’s Degree in Business and Communications from the University of Dayton. She also holds a Master’s Certification in Sustainability from Fairleigh Dickenson University and a Certificate in Global Sustainability Issues and Environmental Policy from INCAE Business School in Ms. Schlosstein is active in the New York Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth and serves as co-chair of the ACG Cup, a competition for aspiring deal makers in area MBA programs.
